How to start an application in Administrator Mode

To automatically install the updates for the Windows Defender, the Windows Update Notifier must be setup to run as an administrator.

To do so, right-click on the WindowsUpdateNotifier.exe and select "Run as Administrator".
After that, in the settings-dialog the option "Install Windows Defender Updates automatically" can be selected.

I have done exactly like it says here but the "Install Windows Defender Updates automatically" checkbox is still greyed out and the WD updates are not being installed automatically. Any ideas? Windows 8.1 Professional

You do not need to do this by hand. The application will do this, once you start the application as an administrator and activate the "auto-start" feature.

Thanks for this great tool.
I would recommend to create a launch entry in Task Scheduler running WUN with "highest privileges" (instead of using the settings option "Start Windows Update Notifier on system startup") so that Defender updates are really done automatically.

Cheers,
